These are the Ballroom and related dance studios of OC.

Groups - Privates - Parties

• In general, dance studios have a primary orientation to group lessons or private lessons; some studios also include dance parties in their schedule.
• Studios with a primary focus on group lessons may have a secondary focus on private lessons, or on parties; and the secondary focus may range from minimal to substantial.
• A few studios offer group lessons, private lessons, and parties - in various orders of focus; for example, groups, parties, privates; or, privates, groups, parties.
• All studios offer private lessons; and most offer a party or so occassionally. Something not mentioned in the notes for a studio here does not mean they don't have it all, just that they don't particularly have much focus on it; most studios don't put much focus on their number three priority - whether it be parties, groups, or privates.

Dance Types

• Most of the dance studios in OC focus on Ballroom and related; some particulary mention Latin dancing.
• A few of the studios have a specialty focus, but most don't. Specialty areas in OC studios include Salsa, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Country Western, and a few others.
• Some studios are narrowly focused, for example, on their specialty or on Ballroom; others are oriented broadly with programs beyond their specialty or foundation.
• Studios which are narrowly focused are generally Ballroom, or specialty, or variety studios; those which are more broadly oriented are Ballroom-plus; specialty-plus; or variety-heavy.
• Thus Ballroom studios offer specialty dancing; and specialty studios offer Ballroom dancing; and variety studios offer niche dancing programs.

Order

• Studios are roughly ordered by a sense of heft or weight of the schedule and studio, including bigger to smaller, most activity to least activity, and other factors; with groups-oriented and parties-focused studios at the beginning of the list (except in South County where privates-centered studios are listed first).
• In most cases there are clear distinctions among studios, but there are a few in which the best ordering is not clear at all. The best studios are those which provide the best dancing for you; and that can be any of the studios regardless of their placement on this list.
